The ‘80s legend gets reborn – with ‘20s treatment!
Lamborghini’s V12 machines have all been trending at one point or another. The Diablo, Murcielago, and Aventador have helped all supercars reach hyper status – but it is the Countach that solidified these Italian car creators as the most infamous with their next level builds!
To celebrate the car’s 50th anniversary, Lamborghini is looking to bring back the Countach with a sick fusion model. This time around, the 2022 Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 will be a limited edition with an 803 horsepower electrified powertrain!
Each model is based on the Sian, which itself was a limited production hypercar based on the Aventador. The 2022 Countach does bring old school elements to its design though, with the headlights, NACA ducts, and engine covering all looking similar to the classic Countach.
Sadly, the pop-up headlights weren’t kept, but the squared-off lamps and uncluttered nose are included. Out back the triple hexagon taillights and quad-exhaust setup are retro nods as well!
Like the Sian it’s based on, the 2022 Countach features a 6.5 litre V12 engine and a small electric motor for a combined output of 803 horsepower! The V12 handles bulk duties, while the electric motor plays backup and is powered by a supercapacitor system that provides three times more power versus a lithium-ion battery of the same weight! That means the Countach can get to 100km/h in 2.8 seconds – way quicker than the original – and on to a top speed of 355 km/h!
The interior is almost identical to the Aventador’s, with its reworked centre console and new 8.4-inch touchscreen – although the screen does share the retro Countach design philosophy.
Lamborghini plans to build 112 units with prices starting at roughly $2.5 million! By now, all 112 are probably proudly paid for, but if you’ve got the cash, you can always get an original Countach – if you can find one!
