Story: Based on the DC Comics superhero, Blue Beetle, this release is intended to be the 14th film in the DC Extended Universe. The plot focuses around recent college graduate, Jaime Reyes, who is struggling to find his purpose and place in the world. Fate intervenes when Reyes discovers an ancient relic of biotechnology, a Scarab that selects the teenager as its symbiotic host. The alien beetle provides a suit of extraterrestrial armor capable of extraordinary powers of speed and strength. With Jaime’s destiny changed forever, he transforms into the superhero, Blue Beetle.

Blue Beetle is the name of three fictional superheroes that have all featured in various comic books since 1939. DC Comics is the latest company to have purchased the rights to the Blue Beetle character in 1983.
Development of a movie based on the character Jaime Reyes began in November, 2018. It was originally planned to launch via streaming service HBO Max, however, was later confirmed to have a theatrical release.
Blue Beetle represents the first Latino lead live action superhero movie from DC or Marvel. There will be significant Spanish dialogue with subtitles for English-speaking viewers.
Actress, Sharon Stone, was originally set to play Victoria Kord, however, dropped out and was replaced with Susan Sarandon.
