Your Own Personal Monster Truck!
We’ve seen some pretty cool ways to get around – whether work or play – but if you want the ultimate beast mode cruiser in a small package you can’t go past the Fat Truck!
The people behind this beast are Zeal Motors in Canada, and along with a great name they have produced a sick go-anywhere machine, with massive balloon tyres that can be inflated (or deflated) anytime on the move!
The vehicle is designed for transporting work crews (8 total) to places a bus would have trouble driving to or where a helicopter might be too costly – and it can even float on water!
The Fat is powered by a 2.2 litre Caterpillar four cylinder turbodiesel that pumps out 67 horsepower at 2,800 rpm! The engine is positioned in the centre of the vehicle because you’d hate to see this thing unbalanced!
Instead of a typical steering wheel, the Fat is controlled by joystick, and can travel on land up to 40 km/h and through water up to 5 km/h! It can also crawl up 75 degree slopes and turn on its own length, because the wheels turn in opposite directions!
Even when it’s fully loaded, the huge 65 inch soft tyres tip-toe lightly thanks to an onboard tyre adjustment system that ensures pressure is matched to the terrain underneath.
With nearly 21 inches of ground clearance, the Fat is quite high at 2.6 metres, but its body stretches only 147 inches in length, shorter than a two door Mini Cooper!
Weighing a hefty 2720 kg, there is a roll-over protective structure and seat belts for all passengers, which means it’s basically road-legal! A variety of custom options are available, including air conditioning, roof racks with ladder, exterior mirrors, Bluetooth radio, and parking camera.
Starting at just under $200,000, this big boy might look built purely for creating viral vids and social media content, but it’s really designed for industrial companies the world over to devour any land or water in their path – although who couldn’t resist streaming live along the way!
