Tech Head – June 2024

Acerpure Cool C2 Air Purifier and Circulator

Most of us don’t game in the nicest of places. Usually, it’s on couches covered in sweat and food, in a dark corner of the house. It’s not great for you, especially if you have allergies. We’ve fallen in love with this piece of tech for a few reasons. It pulls in dirty air, purifies it into healthy air, then blows it around your room. This not only keeps you healthy, but also cool. It’s easy to use and super quiet, too.

Backbone One Gen 2

A new version of the Backbone One mobile phone gaming controller has landed, focusing on remote play. Simply plug your phone (there’s an Android or an iOS version) into the controller, and you’ll get console like controls. Depending on which streaming game subscriptions you have, this means playing Xbox, PlayStation and PC games on your phone wherever you are. As well as mobile games, of course. The Gen 2 controller can fit phones without taking off your case, has a lower latency connection, pass-through charging, an improved d-pad and more comfortable design.

DJI Mic 2

If you’re getting into content creation or experimenting with video, you need a reliable way to capture audio. The DJI Mic 2 comes with everything you need. Two wireless mics, one receiver and a solid charging case. The receiver has a huge array of connection options, including USB-C, 3.5mm jack and Bluetooth, allowing it to easily pair with any camera or phone. You can then record sounds up to 250m away like your standing next to it. The huge 18-hours of battery life, intelligent noise cancellation, stereo channels and easy to use touchscreen seal the deal.

Lenovo Yoga Book 9i 2-in-1

Here’s an amazing new experience from Lenovo. Depending on how you fold up the included stand and detachable keyboard, you can use it like a laptop or a tablet. Then you can also fold it out like a book for a unique viewing experience or roll it upwards for an instant dual-screen setup. The two 13.3″ PureSIght OLED screens are stunning, it uses the latest Intel Core Ultra 7 processor and comes with 16GB RAM. We do wish the camera was a bit better and it’s definitely more for productivity than gaming, but it’s just so cool.

Logitech Pro X 2 Lightspeed

If you’re on the hunt for a premium gaming headset, then the Logitech Pro X 2 is a winner. It offers object-based audio and a low latency, accurate soundscape using long-lasting 50mm graphene drivers. The precision is particularly good, really helping to identify enemy locations in online shooters. It’s fully wireless, but delivers a fantastic 50-hour battery life. And unlike the last model, it supports Bluetooth. It’s a bit expensive and only works with PC and PS5, but it’s certainly comfortable. You can’t deny the quality.

LG G4 OLED Evo TV

The new LG G4 TVs are quite spectacular. The excellent 4K, OLED screen was already one
of the best, but now it has a new Alpha 11 processor driving it. This not only brings AI to the party, which is smart enough to adapt the TV to make the most of every scene, but it now processes images on a pixel level. So that’s 8,000,000 processors each lighting a pixel perfectly. The result is a brighter picture, faster visuals and better upscaling. With Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support it sounds as impressive as it looks. Killer TV!
