Pimax Crystal Light

Pimax is famous for its super premium VR headsets, but to date they’ve been incredibly expensive. The new Crystal Light edition comes in at a much lower price-point, but still delivers some killer features. That includes inside-out tracking, an excellent 2880 x 2800 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, IPD dials, 140-degree field-of-view and great controllers. It’s a PCVR headset, so you’ll need to connect it to a good PC, but you can play any of the VR games on Steam. The amazing QLED screen and light, comfortable design help make it a winner.

Motorola G34

If you’re after an affordable phone that still delivers plenty of nice features and a good performance, this latest effort from Motorola is worth considering. The Motorola G34 offers a big display with 120Hz refresh rate that is great for gaming (and, um, school work… we guess). And it’s backed up by a solid processor and good battery life for a sub $300 smartphone. To be fair, the camera isn’t that great and the screen resolution is low, but it’s going to give you what you need at a price your parents will like.

Google Pixel 8a

Google has released a cheaper version of its flagship Pixel phone line and it’s good value for money. The 120HZ OLED screen looks amazing, the powerful Tensor G3 chip makes gaming and general use a breeze and you’ll easily get a day’s use out of the battery life. It also has an amazing camera for the price point, shooting 4K 60fps video with a whopping 64MP rear camera. It comes with a stack of great AI-driven sound and visual editing software as well, and smart integration of the Android operating system.

Sonos Ace

Legendary speaker maker Sonos has finally branched out into the headset space and the results are awesome. The Sonos Ace is beautifully made, feeling strong and robust, yet comfortable, light and sleek. The 40mm drives sound fantastic, too, and the active noise cancellation works a treat. We also love the 30-hour battery life. Best of all, it can double as a full home theatre system that only you can hear when it’s paired with a Sonos Soundbar. It’s a bit pricey, but it’s also excellent.

Apple iPad Pro

Apple has released the newest version of its iPad Pro and boy are they getting expensive. But the power is incredible! Coming in 13-inch or 11-inch variants, they’re home to the amazing M4 processor chip, 16GB of RAM, an almost 3K resolution and a super bright, 120HZ Ultra Retina XDR OLED screen. The design has thinned down and it’s compatible with the new Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard. Plus, it offers killer AI features, 10-hour battery life and a 12MP TrueDepth camera. Awesome, if you can afford it!

Amazon Echo Hub

If you’ve always wanted to turn your house into a smart home, then this is the device for you. It looks like a slim and sleek tablet, but is purpose built to control any smart devices in your house from one place by touch or by voice. It works with most smart home devices as well, and is powered through USB-C. It turns on as soon as you come up close, too. The 8” HD screen isn’t the greatest, but you can still stream music, watch videos and do tablet-like activities on it. Very futuristic.
