A True Modern Throwback!
Nilu27 may sound like the username of a Call of Duty gamer, but it’s actually the name chosen by designer Sasha Selipanov for his all-new hypercar. Sasha has influenced heavy hitters like the Lamborghini Huracan, Bugatti Chiron, and Koenigsegg Gemera – and just like those elites, the Nilu27 promises to be beautiful yet brutal!
Unlike today’s forced induction and electric types, the 27 takes an old-school approach with its naturally aspirated 6.5 litre V12! Developed by Hartley Engines in New Zealand, this quick revving monster comes connected to a seven speed manual mechanical transmission from Italian brand CIMA.
Even without a turbocharger, hybrid system, or driving aids, this V12 still cranks out a wild 1,070 horsepower and 634ft-lbs of torque! With a 1200 kg dry weight, it’s able to achieve a top speed of 400 km/h – even electronically-limited!
Braking duties are handled by Brembo, and the rotors are carbon ceramic Italian top-of-the-line. The forged aluminum double-wishbone pushrod suspension setup leaves it rear wishbones on full display for all to see!
The big V12 is located mid, behind the passenger compartment. Taking inspiration from 1980s and 90s Formula 1 engines, the headers inside the V12 form a massive 3D printed bundle of snakes that dumps all 12 cylinders into one huge pipe capped off by a Space Shuttle-inspired three-exit design!
If crazy speed and exotic design weren’t enough, the Nilu27 aims to deliver a more traditional analog behind-the-wheel driving experience that isn’t watered down by modern assists. Sasha likes small steering wheels with no buttons, so this will be the experience behind Nilu’s wheel. Less concern about records or numbers or lap times, more focus on the driving experience!
Boasting narrow gullwing doors, partially exposed suspension parts and a two-part rear diffuser,
the design is one that Sasha has been working on for almost 20 years. Inspired by Italian racecars of the 1960s and 1970s, progressive heavy metal, and drift and muscle cars, the Nilu looks like nothing else!
Initially available through a 15 unit run of Launch Editions before 54 more regular specimens are unleashed, pricing will run well into seven figures! With less digitalisation and electronics onboard, you can focus on the track ahead – and leave all distractions behind!
