ALTI Wireless Charging Desk Mat
GameSta has started to use this large mat on his desk for a number of reasons. Firstly, it covers over the bumps and cracks in the desk, giving your keyboard and mouse a smooth surface to work on. It’s big, too, with lots of space for a laptop, or a hot drink, to sit on. It’s comfortable on the arms. But particularly cool is plugging it in via USB-C so it can wirelessly charge your phone and earbuds as they sit beside you. It has a flappable fuzzy side, too, which is nicer in the colder months.
Canon Powershot V10
Famed camera maker Canon has made a dramatic departure from its usual range with the Powershot V10. It’s a video focused camera (like a GoPro), designed with social media in mind. It comes with a built-in stand and flip up screen, which makes it super simple to set up and shoot yourself in any situation. It’s got a wide 19mm, 20MP lens that records 4k/30fps or HD/60fps. It’s light and easily fits in your pocket, and comes with a stack of modes and premium feature like fast-tracking, skin smoothing and 14 aspect ratios. It can even double as a webcam and shoot stills!
Osin Loop
The Osin Loop is designed to help those who spend way too much time inside gaming, working, doing homework or watching TV. The theory is that we don’t get enough natural light coming to our eyes, so our body clock doesn’t know what time of day it is. This causes us to sleep badly and be tired at the wrong times. The Osin Loop creates a light effect that changes with the time of day, to recreate the effect of natural light. You just put it near your PC, laptop or TV, connect it to an app, and adjust the brightness. Definitely worth trying if you’re always tired!
Rode Wireless Me
If you’re looking to up your video production, Rode’s latest mic is awesome. You have a receiver that you connect to your camera or phone, and a transmitter that you put on yourself. As soon as you start filming, or streaming via a social media app, it picks up perfect audio even if you walk up to 100 metres away from the camera. Plus, the receiver also has a mic, so you can easily interview someone and both voices coming out clear. So cool.
Segway Max G2
One of the leaders in the eScooter space has just released a new two-wheeled beast that sits in a sweet spot between its premium and basic models. It’s got some great features, including a double suspension system that keeps it smooth over bumps, traction control, LED screen, 10” self-sealing tyres and a powerful 900W engine. The latter can get it to 25km/h (the legal limit in Australia) very quickly, even up steep hills. GameSta has ridden one, and they feel great underfoot and cruise footpaths with ease.
Xbox Wireless Controller – Remix Special Edition
We love the Xbox controller, but if there is one feature we’re not fans of, it’s the use of replaceable batteries. That’s terrible for the environment! Microsoft seemingly agrees, and as part of the Earth Day celebrations, has released a new green version of its controller built with recycled plastic. Plus, it comes with a rechargeable battery pack. It takes about 4-hours to fully charge, which is a bit of a pain. But you can charge while you are playing, plus it lasts 30-hours once charged.
